Do You Eat Too Much Protein?

Are you eating excessive amounts of protein in your diet? If you eat meat on a daily basis, then you most likely are. Is eating too much protein unhealthy?

Red meat is excessive in protein. Why should you care? Excessive protein turns into acid, acid leads to inflammation and inflammation leads to heart disease, diabetes, cancer as well as many of the common ailments effecting North Americans.

3 Tips on avoiding the Red Meat Blues

1. Reduce your portion sizes. No bigger then a deck of cards or the palm of your hand (see picture above). I know what many of you are thinking (especially you men out there). I grew up all meat and potatoes as well. You will thank me later when you begin to experience abundant energy.

2. Consume the grain quinoa as well as hemp seeds daily to provide a complete protein that is easier on the body to digest.

3. Eat your vegetables. Yes I had to say it. Dark green leafy veggies such as kale and spinach are great sources of protein and should not be overlooked for a healthy alternative to meat.

Action Step

Introduce 1 meal over the next three days that goes against your meat eating habits and email me how it went (with picture if possible). Think about the plant based foods, nuts, seeds, grains, legumes, fruits and vegetables.
